One of my favorite moments was when I wrote to Chris Squire, bassist of YES, asking if I could meet him after a show. To my surprise, he replied and set up backstage passes. After the show, I wanted to thank him by making him a t-shirt similar to the one he was wearing that night. The design got passed around social media quite a bit and eventually made it's way to the manager of Yes. The band decided to print these and sell them with the profits going to Mayo Clinic in honor of Chris the year he passed away. It was very exciting to make something that Chris liked. It was even sold at the Yes merch table along with designs by one of my favorite artists, Roger Dean! RIP Fish.
Painting guitars is one of my favorite things to do. Most guitar paint jobs are $350. If you do your own prepping and clear coats, I might be able to save you some money. If you want the entire guitar painted it will be more. Please contact me to make one for you or buy one from my collection. email@example.com
Since I have equal passion for traditional art and digital art, I like to create pieces that combine the best of both worlds. Scanning a pencil or pen drawing from my sketchbook into photoshop for finishing is a nice way to combine the two. Obviously you can do so much editable, fast-paced work digitally, but you can keep the integrity of a hand drawn sketch and just eleborate on it for interesting results! I sell these creations in my shop, so check it out to buy prints, stationary, t-shirts, pillows, and many other items with my artwork. I also make custom t-shirts like these I made for Nad Sylvan. Contact me if you're in need of a one of a kind item that's not sold in my shop.
I spent many hours drawing surf/skate art and album cover art in my room while growing up. I got my first job as a graphic artist when I was in high school. I worked on a light table w/ rapidograph pens drawing designs for a silkscreen printer while I went through college at UCF studying Advertising. After college, I got a job at Bombardier designing graphics for Sea-Doo watercraft. That was the year all art departments started going digital and I began my love for digital arts. My dream was to work independently in my own environment, so I started my company, Deco Graphics, for the freedom of freelancing on a variety of creative projects.
One of my kids showed me this technique of combining a pencil sketch with a photograph. I saw a lot of inspiring pieces on the web and tried it out myself with these results. I teach digital arts in the mornings at a high school and I plan to give this assignment to them soon. I think they will love it.
One day I was at getting art supplies and saw a giant guitar pick with Roger Dean's Yes art on it. I got the idea to cut some jumbo guitar picks out of wood and paint my own rock star art on it. Here is my Jimi Hendrix version. Contact me if you'd like one. Plan on about $250 since there's a lot of labor and materials compared to a painting on paper.
Besides music, animals are also one of my biggest inspirations for most of the art that I create. If you need a portrait of your pet or drawing of another animal you love, please contact me for a quote. I can do a letter sized portrait starting at $150.
